The Importance of Lightening the Toxic Load
I recently heard a couple comments that caused my head to spin a little more than usual. The first comment was that people have become so unhealthy, few even know what it feels like to be healthy, because babies are being born unhealthy. What a staggering thought. Our un-wellness just feels natural, and yet it shouldn’t. With all the medical technology at our disposal, why is it babies are being born in an unhealthy state? How many babies have you heard about who have problems with life threatening food allergies? What is more natural than eating, and why is it that our babies can’t tolerate food? This question begs to be answered. Perhaps it has to do with the way foods have been adulterated with toxins.
I have long been an advocate of clean eating and trying to do as much as possible to lighten the toxic load, Much can be done in this area once we open our eyes and begin thinking about what we are actually putting into our bodies as food. Food is one of the necessary components of life, and who better than the purest form of nature to provide us with a food supply? Nature isn’t the one who is dumping chemicals in and on our food, it’s man who does that with the mentality they can improve upon what nature provided. Opening our eyes involves reading labels.
The second comment I heard recently follows along these lines. It stated that Swiss researchers found 85% of human breast milk they sampled had dangerously high levels of chemicals stemming from the cosmetic industry. These chemicals were derived from topically applied make up, skin creams, and sun block.
This research clearly indicates that whatever we put on our skin, can and does penetrate our bodies adding to the toxic load placed on our livers. If the liver isn’t able to break down and excrete the toxins, these toxins circulate, spilling into other areas of the body, including breast milk. Could there be a relationship between unwell babies who have trouble with our food supply because they are being overloaded with toxic chemicals that have invaded even the most sacred of natural foods, mother’s milk?
When we think of lightening the toxic load, our work doesn’t end with the food supply. A clean food supply is just the beginning. Anything coming in contact with our body can be absorbed through the skin, consumed through food stuffs and water, or inhaled as we breathe.
